No. IA IB 20-06 Date: September 3, 2020 Page 1 of 2 Subject: Reno/Stead Airport Construction and Service Changes Area of Concern: Fire Operations Distribution: All Aviation Users Discussion: The following contains information related to construction affecting the Reno/Stead airtanker base operations.
Reno/Stead (KRTS) 09/08/2020 Construction involving the Reno/Stead airtanker base retardant pits and helicopter pad will require their closure; however, a mobile retardant base will be opened to service firefighting aircraft. All runways will remain open; however, the helicopter pad will be closed. Normal fuel servicing will be available and radio communications remain unchanged. Most transient parking will remain open.
A mobile retardant base will be available at the north end of the airport. Expect delays due to a limited loading area.
Construction of new retardant pits and ramp area will continue through remainder of the 2020 fire season and is expected to be completed prior to the 2021 fire season. Barriers will be in place around construction area.
