General a. This Rosen Product Maintenance Manual provides use, maintenance, and supplemental airworthiness instructions for the cockpit Sunvisor system used on all Beechcraft aircraft models listed on FAA Approved Model List (AML) for FAA STC SA3597NM. b. Rosen reserves the right to revise this document for changed procedures, improved parts or changes to the system or components. c. Rosen Sunvisor Systems LLC Data Information may only be used in Conjunction with Rosen Products 9100-1160-001 Rev A Page 5 of 15 Product Description General The Rosen Sunvisor System consists of two visor assemblies which have been designed to improve pilot comfort during standard cockpit operations. In this installation the visor assemblies are fastened to the airframe in the same mounting positions as the factory installed visors. The R1160002 system incorporates an additional pivot that allows the visor to tilt down about 30°. This is not provided on the R1160001 system. Installation Instructions Please read these short instructions COMPLETELY before starting. Installation Hardware (included): Qty: (1) 5/32 Allen Key for #10-32 Cap Screw (1) 9/64 Allen Key for #8-32 Cap Screw (6) MS24693C54B #8-32 x 1 FHP Screw Installing your Rosen Sunvisor System is easily performed and should take approximately ½ to 1 hour. The Rosen NSA (New Sliding Arm) Sunvisor for the Beech Duke replaces the original equipment, so the first step is to remove the original units from the aircraft with a #2 Philips screwdriver. Using the machine screws provided, install the new Rosen NSA Visor on the pilot’s side first. The new visor will use the same mounting points as the old unit. Orient the mounting plate to find the most vertical position for the swivel. When installed the pivot post should be nearly vertical with respect to the aircraft. R1160001 Pilot Side Mount R1160002 Pilot Side Mount NOTE: Holding the visor so that it covers the front windscreen in front of the pilot, the red thumb tensioning knob should be towards the windscreen. If it is not, check to see that the orientation of the mount is correct. Otherwise, place washers on one or more of the screws between the mount and the aircraft as needed. When R1150002 visors are installed, there may be a slight overlap at the center. Repeat the same procedure for the co-pilot’s side. Every movement of the Rosen NSA System is tension able and is based on the clevis or slide principle and Hex Keys are provided for that purpose. Adjust tension to your preference now. All motions should be smooth, but not loose. To stow, the unit can be rotated to the overhead while in front or moved to the side of the aircraft and rotated overhead. While in the forward position the NSA visor stows nicely overhead. Place the FAA STC and AML (if appropriate) in the Aircraft Maintenance Log and make an installation entry. Only the R1160002 has the tilt down feature. The visor lens can be extended by slightly loosening the Red Knob and sliding the lens out. Rotational tensions are adjusted by small adjustments to the socket head cap screws in the side or front of the main swivel block as shown: R1160001 Tension Adjustments R1160002Tension Adjustments Rosen Sunvisor Systems LLC Data Information may only be used in Conjunction with Rosen Products 9100-1160-001 Rev A Page 8 of 15 When installed correctly, the red slide tension knob is located inboard when the visors are rotated to either side window of the aircraft. Tension can be adjusted on the slide with small (¼ - ½) turns to make it easier or more difficult to operate. The red knob should not be removed. Once the tension is set the visor can be moved by just gripping the visor material. Note: Do not use your Rosen Sunvisors for heat protection or to hold reflective shields against the windscreen when parked on the ramp for extended periods. This may cause lenses to warp with excessive heat load. The visors should be left hanging vertically when not in use. Fault Isolation 1. General a. This section identifies Probable Causes and Corrections for possible faults. Problem Probable Cause Corrective Action Visor does not extend on arm Tension Thumb knob too tight Loosen knob and slide using knob Lens does not rotate smoothly on vertical axis Vertical pivot tension incorrectly set Re-tension vertical pivot Lens does not rotate smoothly on horizontal axis Horizontal pivot tension incorrectly set Re-tension horizontal pivot Removal a. Reverse installation procedure. Weight and Balance Because operators calculate Weight and Balance differently the actual station number must be determined by the installer’s calculations. For weight and balance the following weights are used: R1160001-0 2.13 Lbs. R1160002-0 2.34 Lbs. With the visor located in the stow position (in forward position and folded up) the weight is located at the mount point datum of the visor. When the original visors are removed, they must be weighed and removed from the calculation. Repair General Rosen Sunvisor Systems LLC Data Information may only be used in Conjunction with Rosen Products 9100-1160-001 Rev A Page 9 of 15 a. All components that do not meet the requirements for continued use must be replaced. Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (On the ground only) o Periodically clean the lenses with a soft cloth, mild soap and water or Rosen Cleaner. 70% Isopropyl alcohol can also be used for sanitization. Do not use abrasives on the lens. o Periodically adjust the pivot tensions on the visor assemblies. o Periodically clean and lightly re-lubricate slide. Airworthiness Limitations The Airworthiness Limitations Section is FAA approved and specifies maintenance required under §43.16 and §91.403 of the Federal Aviation Regulations unless an alternative program has been FAA approved. There are no airworthiness limitations associated with this installation.
