Overview

This document serves as a checklist for the Beechcraft G36 Bonanza, detailing the necessary procedures for pre-flight, engine start, takeoff, cruise, approach, and shutdown. It is designed for pilots operating the G36 Bonanza, providing a systematic approach to ensure safety and efficiency during flight operations. The checklist includes critical steps for engine management, fuel selection, and various pre-flight checks to prepare the aircraft for safe operation. It emphasizes the importance of monitoring engine performance and adhering to specific speed and altitude parameters during different phases of flight.

  • Parking brake must be ON before engine start.
  • Rotate at 73 KTS during takeoff.
  • Best cruise speed is 222 KTS TAS at 2,500 RPM.
  • Final approach speed should be 90 KTS.
  • Ensure landing gear is down below 154 KTS.

Pre-Flight / Before Engine Start

Before starting the engine, ensure the parking brake is on, cowl flaps are open, and battery master switches are on. Alternator switches should also be turned on before proceeding to engine start.

Engine Start

During engine start, turn on navigation and beacon lights, set the throttle lever to full, and the RPM lever to high RPM. The mixture control should be set to full rich, and the fuel boost should be on until flow peaks, then turned off. After starting, adjust the throttle to approximately 1000 RPM and check oil pressure.

Takeoff

For takeoff, reset the heading bug and apply full throttle to achieve 2700 RPM. Rotate at 73 knots and retract landing gear upon a positive rate of climb. Maintain an airspeed trim of 120-125 knots during the climb.

Approach

During the approach, switch the fuel selector to the fuller tank and open cowl flaps. Ensure landing gear is down below 154 knots and full flaps are set below 124 knots. The approach speed should be maintained at 110 knots, with a final approach speed of 90 knots.

Shutdown

To shut down the aircraft, ensure the parking brake is on, throttle is at 1000 RPM, and avionics are turned off. The engine mixture should be set to idle/cut off, and the propeller feathered before turning off the magneto/start switches and battery master switches.

Safety notes

  • Always check oil pressure after engine start.
  • Monitor fuel selector position during flight phases.
