Specifications / Limitations

The G36 Bonanza has a maximum takeoff weight and landing weight of 3,650 lbs. It has a service ceiling of 18,500 ft and a maximum demonstrated crosswind component of 17 knots. The aircraft is prohibited from flying in icing conditions. Key speeds include VA (maximum maneuver speed) at 141 KIAS, VSO (stall speed with full flaps) at 61 KIAS, VNE (never exceed speed) at 205 KIAS, VNO (maximum structural cruising speed) at 167 KIAS, VLE (maximum gear extended speed) at 154 KIAS, and VFE (maximum flaps extended speed) at 154 KIAS for approach and 124 KIAS for full flaps.

Engine Start - Checklist

The engine start checklist includes setting the parking brake, turning on battery and alternators, activating the beacon, selecting the fullest fuel tank, opening cowl flaps, and setting the propeller and mixture controls. The throttle should be fully open initially, then adjusted to half an inch open after the auxiliary fuel pump is activated for 3 seconds. The magneto/start switch should be engaged for a maximum of 30 seconds.

Normal Takeoff Procedures

For a normal takeoff with flaps set to 0 (up), the pilot should rotate at a speed of 65-73 KIAS, depending on weight, and achieve an initial climb speed of 84 KIAS for best angle of climb or 100 KIAS for best rate of climb. For a short field takeoff with flaps set to 1 (APH), the rotation speed is 62-67 KIAS, with the same climb speeds as the normal takeoff.

Cruise Climb

During cruise climb, the maximum power climb requires the throttle to be set to full and the propeller to 2,700 RPM, maintaining a speed of 100 KIAS. For a normal climb, the throttle should be full, propeller set to 2,500 RPM, and speed maintained at 110 KIAS.

Approach and Landing Procedures

During approach, the landing lights should be turned on, and the fuel selector should be set to the fullest tank. The checklist includes checking the landing gear and flaps before landing. For a visual approach, the recommended speed is around 110 KIAS at 8-7 NM from the destination, reducing to 90 KIAS on the downwind leg, and 80 KIAS on final approach.

Safety notes

  • Flying in icing conditions is prohibited.

Descent should begin approximately at a distance of 3 NM per 1.000 ft above destinations altitude, if you want to fly a 3° glidepath. If your are flying IFR with ATC: If ATC is not giving you clearance to descent shortly (3-5 Minutes) after your TOD, then most likely the STAR or Approach is broken. Start to descend then anyways and ignore ATC if necessary. DESCENT If your are flying IFR with ATC: Due to a lot of wrong STAR and Approach altitudes in MS FS database, you are advised to constantly check your altitude during descent and approach even if you were given clearance to descend at the TOD. For a standard 3° glidepath approach, make sure you are not significantly higher at a given point, than the altitude of the destination plus a 1.000 ft per 3 NM to go. Example: If you have 21 NM to go, destination is at sea level and you are at an altitude of 12.000 ft, you are too high. you should be around 7.000 ft Throttle and Speed .......................................AS REQ Sinkrate for a 3° glidepath........ ~ 5 x Ground Speed Mixture..........................................................AS REQ Cowl Flaps.....................................................CLOSE @Transition Altitude Altimeter QNH....................................................SET APPROACH – CHECKLIST @ ~ 15 – 10 NM to go Landing Lights.......................................................ON Fuel Selector...................................FULLEST TANK Cowl Flaps...................................................AS REQ
