Engine Fire During Start
In the event of an engine fire during start, the checklist instructs the pilot to crank the engine continuously while setting the mixture to idle cut-off and the throttle to full open. The fuel selector should be turned off, and the magnetos should be switched off.
Engine Power Loss: Immediately After Takeoff
If there is a power loss immediately after takeoff, the pilot should turn off the master switch, maintain an airspeed of 75 MPH (70 MPH with 40º flaps), set the mixture to idle cut-off, and turn the fuel selector off.
Fire In Flight (Electrical Fire)
In case of an electrical fire in flight, the pilot should turn off the master switch and all electrical switches, turn off the heater, and close air vents. If the fire is due to engine issues, the pilot should establish an emergency descent.
Electrical Overload
If the OVER VOLTAGE light illuminates, the pilot should turn off the master switch and then turn it back on. If the light comes on again, reduce electrical load and land as soon as practical.
Alternator Failure
In the event of alternator failure indicated by a continuous discharge rate, the alternator switch should be turned off, electrical load reduced, and the pilot should land as soon as practical.

OVER VOLTAGE light is illuminated: Throttle – idle Master Switch – OFF, then ON Ailerons – neutral Rudder – full opposite direction of rotation 2.) If OVER VOLTAGE light illuminates a second time: Control Wheel – full forward Rudder – neutral when rotation stops Electrical Load – reduce Control Wheel – as required to smoothly regain Land as soon as practical level flight attitude Alternator Failure Carburetor Icing If the ammeter indicates a continuous discharge rate in Carburetor Heat – ON flight, the alternator is not supplying power to the Mixture – adjust for maximum engine smoothness system and should be shut down. Engine Roughness Alternator Switch – OFF Electrical Load – reduce Carburetor Heat – ON Land as soon as practical If roughness continues: Carburetor Heat – OFF Mixture – adjust for maximum smoothness Fuel Selector – Switch Tanks Primer – in and locked Magnetos – cycle Engine Gauges – check for abnormal indications Low Oil Pressure Land as soon as possible
