CESSNA F-172 H · Model Guide
Overview
CESSNA F-172 H is the Reims-built F172H variant in the Cessna 172 single-engine piston family. Registry data covers the whole 172 family only: up to 4 passengers, 140 kt cruise, 700 nm range, 17000 ft service ceiling. None of this is confirmed for this variant, and the supplied documents give no variant-specific weights or performance.
- Family-level maxima only: up to 4 passengers, 140 kt cruise, 700 nm range. No F172H-specific figures were supplied.
- A Thielert TAE 125 diesel conversion is covered for F172H; confirm whether the aircraft has it and see the POH supplement.
- Check records for mandatory ignition letter SEL-74-06, the alternate static valve AD and seat stop bulletin SEB07-5.
- A diesel-converted aircraft depends on electrical power, so verify the alternator and the FADEC backup battery.

Does the guide give weights and speeds for the CESSNA F-172 H?
No. For the CESSNA F-172 H the inputs contain no variant-specific weights, V-speeds or performance. Only family-level maxima are given: 4 passengers, 140 kt cruise, 700 nm range and 17000 ft ceiling. Check the aircraft's own POH.
Can a CESSNA F-172 H have a diesel engine?
Yes. The Thielert supplement lists the Reims Cessna F172 H among models approved with the TAE 125-01 or TAE 125-02-99 diesel installation. Confirm the STC paperwork and that the supplement is attached to the approved POH.
Which service items should I check on a CESSNA F-172 H?
For a CESSNA F-172 H, check compliance with SEL-74-06 (ignition), the alternate static air source valve AD, and bulletin SEB07-5 on seat stops. If it is diesel-converted, also check the FADEC backup battery records.

Engine options and diesel conversion
The Thielert supplement covers Reims Cessna F172 F, G, H, I, K, L and M fitted with the TAE 125-01 or TAE 125-02-99. These are turbocharged, liquid-cooled four-cylinder common-rail diesels with FADEC control. The 125-01 is 1689 ccm and the 125-02-99 is 1991 ccm. Gearbox ratio is 1.69. Both give the same power and propeller speeds.
Service letters and directives to check
F172H serial ranges appear in mandatory Service Letter SEL-74-06 (ignition, February 5, 2020). It also covers magnetos fitted as spares after delivery. All F172H serials are in the CASA alternate static air source valve AD (effective 13 May 2008). Bulletin SEB07-5 (May 14, 2007) covers secondary seat stops for certain F172H serials.
Diesel engine-exchange and FADEC items
Service Letter SL TAE 601-1001 (December 11, 2012) covers electrical adaptation of Cessna 172 and Reims F172 F to S aircraft with a CENTURION 2.0 (TAE 125-02-99) at engine exchange after 1500 h. FAA AD 2011-06-02 requires a FADEC backup battery on Model 172s with STC SA01303WI. It also requires replacing that battery every 12 calendar months.
Safety notes
- Alternate static valve P/N 2013142-18: a misplaced placard can block the port, giving wrong altimeter, airspeed and vertical speed readings. Inspect or check records.
- TAE 125 engines need electrical power. If the main battery and alternator both fail, the engine runs a maximum of 30 minutes on FADEC backup battery.
- FAA AD 2011-06-02 followed an in-flight engine shutdown caused by a momentary loss of electrical power to the FADEC.
