Starting Engine

Mixture Full Rich, Carburetor Heat OFF, Throttle Open 1/2 inch, Master Switch ON, Magneto Switch to START, Throttle 1000-1200 RPM, Check Oil Pressure, Ammeter, Flaps, Radios & Electrical Equipment ON.

Emergency Procedures

Engine Fire during Start on Ground: If engine starts, power to 1700 RPM for a few minutes, shutdown & inspect for damage. If engine fails to start, mixture to idle cut-off, master switch OFF, magneto switch OFF. Engine Fire in Flight: Mixture to idle cut-off, fuel selector OFF, master switch OFF, cabin heat & air OFF.
