Engine Failure (Ground)

In the event of an engine failure on the ground, the checklist instructs the pilot to set the throttle to idle, apply brakes, retract flaps, and turn off the mixture and magnetos. The master switch should also be turned off to secure the aircraft.

Engine Failure (Lift Off)

If an engine failure occurs during lift-off, the pilot should maintain an airspeed of 80 MPH, turn off the mixture and fuel selector, and cycle the magnetos. Flaps should be adjusted as required, and the master switch should be turned off.

Engine Failure (Cruise)

During cruise, if the engine fails, the pilot should maintain an airspeed of 80 MPH, select a landing site, and check for fire. The mixture should be set to rich, and the fuel selector should be on both. The pilot should cycle the magnetos and attempt a restart before preparing for a forced landing.

Engine Fire (On Start)

If an engine fire occurs during start, the checklist advises the pilot to continue cranking the starter. If the engine starts, the throttle should be set to 1700 RPM for two minutes before shutting down and inspecting. If it does not start, the throttle should be set to full, and the mixture turned off.

Electrical Fire (In Flight)

In case of an electrical fire in flight, the master switch should be turned off, and all other switches should be turned off as well. The cabin air and vents should be closed, and a fire extinguisher should be used. If the fire is extinguished, the master switch can be turned back on in stages.
