Catalog PB-9424 Revised 2/2006 Out of Production Single Reduction Axles HOW TO USE THIS CATALOG • This catalog contains the most popular carriers for Single Reduction, Out of Production Axles. Major assembly differences such as traction equalizers, NoSpins, different differential nest assemblies, etc., are also cataloged. These major assembly differences in a carrier are indicated by the different assembly level numbers in front of the base carrier number. The axle carrier chart at the beginning of each model lists all the variations covered in this catalog. NOTE: The carriers listed in this catalog do not include yokes. A yoke is a major assembly difference. Therefore, a carrier sold with a yoke has a different assembly level number than the same carrier without the yoke. • SECTION 1 - The charts for carriers and housing components include the following information: • An exploded view of each assembly, keyed to the parts list. • A description of each part. • Parts that are sold as assemblies that include other parts. • The carriers or axle models the part is used on. • The quantity of the part used on the carrier or axle. • The part number for each part. • SECTION 2 - Housing Components and Wheel End Parts: These charts cover the miscellaneous housing components and wheel end parts and are sequenced by model number. • SECTION 3 - Axle Shafts: The shafts listed in this section are sequenced according to model designation. • SECTION 4 - Drive Gear and Pinion Assemblies: This section lists all gear sets and ratios by model designation. • SECTION 5 - Yokes and Flanges: These charts cover full round bearing yokes, wing bearing yokes, Easy Service yokes and flanges used on each axle model. The recommended procedure is as follows: 1. Wipe excess oil and residue from the threaded holes in the case. The holes should be relatively oil free. 2. If new bolts are being used, a yellow coating of Dri-Loc should appear on the threads. Assemble the case with these coated bolts to the required torque. 3. If the original bolts are reused or regular bolts without Dri-Loc are used, Meritor part no. 2297-C-7049 should be used as a thread locking adhesive. Apply the adhesive to the differential case holes only. Thread the bolts and tighten to the required torque. IMPORTANT: Do not apply Meritor part no. 2297-C-7049 to Dri-Loc coated bolts. The recommended procedure is as follows: 1. Wipe excess oil and residue from the threaded holes in the case. The holes should be relatively oil free. 2. If new bolts are being used, a yellow coating of Dri-Loc should appear on the threads. Assemble the case with these coated bolts to the required torque. 3. If the original bolts are reused or regular bolts without Dri-Loc are used, Meritor part no. 2297-C-7049 should be used as a thread locking adhesive. Apply the adhesive to the differential case holes only. Thread the bolts and tighten to the required torque. IMPORTANT: Do not apply Meritor part no. 2297-C-7049 to Dri-Loc coated bolts.
