Engine Securing Procedure
In the event of an engine failure, the procedure begins with closing the throttle, setting the mixture to idle cut-off, and feathering the propeller. This is crucial for securing the inoperative engine.
Engine Failure During Takeoff
If engine failure occurs during takeoff at speeds below 92 KIAS, the throttles should be closed immediately, and brakes applied as necessary. For speeds above 92 KIAS, mixtures should be adjusted, and propellers set to full forward.
Emergency Descent Procedures
In an emergency descent, pilots should set throttles to idle, propellers to full forward, and adjust the mixture. For turbulence, wing flaps should be extended to 35 degrees, and landing gear should be down.
In-Flight Fire Procedures
In the event of a fire in flight, both auxiliary fuel pumps should be turned off, the appropriate engine secured, and the throttle closed. The mixture should be set to idle cut-off, and the fuel selector turned off.
Spins
If a spin occurs, the procedure involves closing the throttles immediately, neutralizing the ailerons, and holding full rudder. The control wheel should be pushed forward briskly, and power should be increased on the inboard engine.
Safety notes
- Ensure to follow the engine securing procedure immediately after engine failure.
- In-flight fires require immediate action to secure the affected engine and cut off fuel supply.
