BEECHCRAFT KING AIR B200 · Model Guide
Overview
The BEECHCRAFT KING AIR B200 is a twin-turboprop in the King Air 200 series. The documents here cover two CenTex Aerospace modifications, not the stock airplane: the Halo 275 commuter-category weight increase and the Saddle Tanks auxiliary fuel system. Check which STCs a given airplane has, because they change its weights, fuel and limits.
- Halo 275 STC raises the BEECHCRAFT KING AIR B200 to 14,000 lb max takeoff weight and limits the cabin to nine passenger seats.
- Saddle Tanks add 72, 120 or 190 gallons of usable fuel; the ST190 brings the total to 734 gallons.
- Powerplant limits in the Halo 275 supplement: 850 shaft horsepower, 2230 ft-lbs and 2000 RPM, with autofeather on for takeoff.
- A BE-200 type rating is required to fly Halo 275 converted airplanes, except under option 1 of the STC.

Halo 275 weight and category change
The STC applies to B200GT, B200 and B200C airplanes with high flotation landing gear. It sets a ramp weight of 14,090 lb, takeoff weight of 14,000 lb and landing weight of 13,500 lb. Max zero fuel weight is 11,500 lb on later B200s (manufactured 1993 and after). It also adds a takeoff trim warning, a stall warning icing mode, an engine fire extinguisher system and emergency cabin lighting.
Saddle Tanks auxiliary fuel
The CenTex STC offers ST190, ST120 and ST72 tanks, adding 190, 120 or 72 US gallons. Usable fuel totals 734, 664 and 616 gallons. Main and auxiliary tanks must be full before the Saddle Tanks are filled. ST120 and ST72 tanks have storage compartments with cargo weight limits. Do not run the 53-gallon tip tanks with this STC.
What to check when buying
Ask for the STC paperwork and the matching flight manual supplement. Confirm the engine model (PT6A-41, -42, -52 or -61), propellers and any other STCs against the compatibility list. Confirm the airplane serial number is eligible for the 11,500 lb zero fuel weight. Check the Saddle Tank drains, filler caps and storage doors.
Safety notes
- Do not open the auxiliary tank cap if there is fuel in the Saddle Tank; fuel can flow out of the auxiliary tank.
- Under Halo 275, sustained flight in icing needs at least 148 knots, and engine anti-ice must be on at +5°C or below.
- Fuel imbalance between wing systems must not exceed 300 lb, except 1,000 lb with one engine inoperative.
