TURBO DR./SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78216/512/349-6347 CUSTOM AIRCRAFT CONVERSIONS, INC.'S "TEXAS TAILDRAGGER" Thank you for your inquiry concerning our Cessna 150 and 152 conventional landing gear modification kits. We have developed a kit that will convert any Cessna 150, 152, Aerobat and 150 HP models to the tailwheel configuration for the 1959 model on up to the present. The kits are S.T.C. and P.M.A. approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. Either leaf or tube type kits may be purchased depending on the type that is installed on your aircraft. Installation time ranges from 40 to 55 hours depending on your mechanical ability. All components necessary to accomplish the modification including detailed instructions, blueprints and all parts, clearly labeled and properly fitted, are furnished with the kits. This kit has fewer parts and more propeller clearance than our previous kits. The center of gravity remains the same after installation. The aircraft will be approximately ten pound lighter and have less drag resulting in better fuel consumption. Installation does not restrict the aircraft in any manner. You still retain the spin approval. Once installed, the S.T.C. allows the aircraft to be converted back and forth between the tricycle and tailwheel configuration at will and in only a few hours time. The Scott 3200 and the 8" Maule tailwheels have been recently added to the S.T.C. as substitutes that can be used in the place of the tailwheel included with the kits. If you wish to use a substitute, please call or write for further details. Once the conversion is accomplished, you will have an airplane that has increased in value, requires less maintenance, gets you to your destination faster and has more flexibility to land where you want. And according to Plane and Pilot, November '79 issue, "the result will be an aircraft that is pure fun to fly, outperforms a 1979 tricycle gear model and draws attention wherever you land." The "Texas Taildragger" has received favorable reviews in the following publications: 1983 AVIATION ANNUAL, 1979 A/C FLYER, 1982 PLANE & PILOT, 1979 AERO, 1980 AIR PROGRESS, 1982 PRIVATE PILOT, 1980 WINGS, 1982 CESSNA 150/152 NEWS, 1982 AOPA PILOT, 1983 PRIVATE PILOT, 1983 MIDWEST FLYER and most recently in the February, 1985 issue of PRIVATE PILOT. Other kits that are available: 150/180 HP Cessna 150/152 Engine Conversion Kit Cessna 150/152 Long Range Fuel Tanks 150/180 H.P. ENGINE CONVERSION KITS FOR CESSNA 150/152 CUSTOM AIRCRAFT CONVERSIONS, INC. has been granted Supplemental Type Certificates by the Federal Aviation Administration for the purpose of changing the engine in Cessna 150/152's to Lycoming 0360, 150/180 H.P. The Company manufacturers the highly successful Texas Tail- dragger Landing Gear Conversion Kits for Cessna Models 150/152 and recently introduced Long Range Fuel Tank Kits for the same aircraft. By increasing the horsepower of the aircraft a pilot can operate in the 150 M.P.H. range enabling him to climb to altitude at a fantastic rate. Increased rate of climb means cruise altitudes above 10,000' are logical and the pilot receives the benefit of better winds and smoother air. The modification is delivered with the necessary drawings and step by step instructions on how to accomplish the complete change. Several different kits are available and your choice of kits will depend on the amount of parts you have on hand. The Engine and the Propellor are not provided with the standard or basic kits. If you need these particular items we can provide them to you at a cost far below list. The Engine used is a Lycoming 0360, A2A with a McCauley 1A 170/SFA 75 63 Prop. The gross weight increase gives you about 660 lbs. useful load depending on the empty weight of your aircraft. We estimate 80 hrs. of labor to complete the modification and any A & P mechanic can accomplish the installation if the purchaser lacks mechanical ability. Once the conversion is complete, you will experience a super rate-of-climb, fantastic speed, a decrease in take off distance, increased altitude, gross weight increase and more miles per gallon of gas. This kit is one of the greatest mods that has become available for Cessna 150/ 152's in the past decade. Thank you for your interest. Sincerely, CUSTOM AIRCRAFT CONVERSIONS, INC.
