Helicopteres Guimbal Maintenance Manual CABRI G2 POWERPLANT Issue 06 Approved under DOA EASA.21J.211 E-5-53 52-A-10 Cooling Fan Inspection (SB 14-018) IPC 5.7-0 a) Open the cowlings, Note: The inspection is easier if the engine cowlings are removed (which is the case for 100-hour inspections). b) Remove the scroll inlet screen, c) Closely inspect the fan front flange: • Clean the visible portion with a cloth dampened with petrol, • Using a torchlight, look for any crack, specifically around the starter ring gear, • Turn the crankshaft approximately 90° and reiterate until the complete flange is inspected. Note: If the sparkplugs are removed, the crankshaft is easy to turn by hand. If they are not removed, short pulses on the starter may be used to turn the crankshaft. Turn slowly by hand to turn against the compression if needed. Warning: It is strictly prohibited to use any tool on the starter ring gear to rotate the crankshaft. d) If a crack is found, proceed to the replacement of the fan before any further flight, e) Send the cracked front flange to HG when ordering the new one.
