Situation HG has had reports of weak ELT signals when transmitting. Testing has showed that the root cause was the location of the ELT antenna. This Service Bulletin depicts the relocation of the ELT antenna and, if applicable, of the VHF2 antenna as well. EASA.21J.211 5 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN 2 ELT Antenna Installation Aircraft equipped with VHF2 IPC 7.3-00 a) Remove the engine cowlings following MM 61-B-01, b) Disconnect the connector from the VHF2 antenna [13], c) Remove and discard VHF2 antenna [13], d) Open the tail boom firewall access door and remove both nuts from the upper LH tailboom fitting. EASA.21J.211 7 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN l) Drill a Ø10 mm hole and enlarge to Ø22 mm using a carbide router, Note: Make sure there is at least a 2 mm gap between the antenna and the composite. m) If necessary, proceed to paint touch-up using paint listed in MM Supplement J70-013, n) Install the ELT antenna on the bracket with its associated washer and nuts, o) Remove both lower nuts and washers from the lower LH and RH tailboom fitting, discard nuts and washers, p) Install antenna bracket G72-03-220 with washers HG17-0551 and nuts HG12-0343 as shown below, q) Torque nuts to 7.5 - 9 N.m and install cotter pins HG22-0700, r) Close the tail boom firewall access door with associated screws, s) Install VHF2 antenna G72-23-110 with its associated washer on the antenna bracket, pointing downward as shown below, t) Connect VHF2 coaxial cable to the antenna as shown below: Washer HG17-0551 + nut HG12-0343 Antenna G72-23-110 Antenna Bracket G72-03-220 SB 25-006 B The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the DOA ref. EASA.21J.211 8 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN u) Identify the interference area between VHF2 antenna and both lateral cowlings as shown below, v) Using a carbide router, trim the cowlings, make sure there is at least a 5 mm gap between the antenna and the composite, w) If necessary, proceed to paint touch-up using paint listed in MM Supplement J70-013, x) Install a plug HG22-2692 in the former VHF2 antenna hole, bond it in place using cyanoacrylate glue.

If it does, proceed to honeycomb repair as per section 4, prior to drilling, k) Drill a Ø10 mm hole and enlarge to Ø22 mm using a carbide router, Note: Make sure there is at least a 2 mm gap between the antenna and the composite. l) If necessary, proceed to paint touch-up using paint listed in MM Supplement J70-013, m) Install the ELT antenna on the bracket with its associated washer and nuts. EASA.21J.211 11 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN All aircraft 3 ELT Antenna Cable Routing a) Inside the luggage compartment, identify the bottom forward plexiglass cap, b) Gain access to this cap by locally removing the upholstery, Note: This is a delicate task as the upholstery is quite fragile, use care. c) Drill a Ø10 mm hole inside the plexiglass cap identified above, enlarge to Ø22 mm using a carbide router, d) Install grommet HG73-1153 as shown below: Looking inside the luggage compartment Grommet HG73-1153 SB 25-006 B The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the DOA ref. EASA.21J.211 14 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN 4 Engine Cowl Honeycomb Repair a) Mark the ELT antenna hole and the honeycomb to be trimmed as shown below: b) Using a diamond cutting wheel or a carbide router, remove the honeycomb, the edges should then be sharp and free of chips as shown below, c) Degrease the area using MEK and let it dry, do not wipe it with a cloth, SB 25-006 B The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the DOA ref. EASA.21J.211 15 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN d) Mix the resin HG32-0188 with cotton flock C3027 until the desired texture is achieved, then apply a coat on the trimmed honeycomb as shown below: e) Allow to cure at ambient temperature for 12 hours, f) If needed, flatten the surfaces using P80 grit abrasive, g) Prepare 3 plies of fiberglass HG40-2813 as shown below: • 2 plies Z1 and Z2 orientated at 0°/90°, • 1 ply Z3 orientated at ±45°, • 1 peel ply HG40-0204 covering the repaired area. EASA.21J.211 16 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN h) Carefully laminate the air bubbles, i) Allow to cure at ambient temperature for 12 hours then 60°C for 4 to 6 hours, j) Sand the area using P160 grit abrasive, prior to finishing, k) Proceed to a paint touch-up on the affected zone using paint listed in MM Supplement J70-013. EASA.21J.211 17 / 17 Cabri G2 SERVICE BULLETIN 5 Flight Manual Temporary Revision a) If applicable, remove the Flight Manual Temporary Revision J40-001-TR1 from the flight manual. 6 Final Steps a) Reinstall the ELT inside the luggage compartment, switch the ELT to ARMED, b) Turn Master and VHF2 ON, check radio transmission and reception, if applicable, c) Perform an ELT test following MM 72-C-02.
